Crosslake Fibre is building fiber from a data center in Toronto, ON to a data center in Buffalo, NY. The fiber will be Subsea in Lake Ontario and land on the southern shore in Wilson, NY. Construction-CAD Solutions (CCS) worked on the terrestrial outside plant engineering. Within the project, the route utilized State, County, local, Railway and power transmission right of ways.
THE CUSTOMER
THE CHALLENGE
- Find a coordinated route between all the MEP trades and all the architectural and structural elements.
- Design changes in the architecture of the building would require modifications to each of the MEP systems to accommodate the new design.
- Create a route for the pneumatic tubing that does not slow down the system or causes any unnecessary work in the field.
THE SOLUTION
Utilizing the BIM coordination process, CCS would be involved in finding clashes between the different trades and then resolving them. With the ever changing design, making sure CCS was aware of all the new changes was a key part in the coordination of the project. Establishing a detailed model early on in the process allowed for CCS to claim the space it needed and insured the system would perform at its best.
